Happy Wednesday everyone!
For the DL1961 show, I wanted to play with the theme of sweet decadence by pairing the gentle bow design of the jacket with the richness of the printed jeans. And to add a bit of mystery (inspired by Sherlock of course!), I layered the tops with a high collar coat. Off to the show we go!
:: Unforgettable memories ::
Our winner, Nesh, being interviewed before the show =)
What makes this particular show so special is that it incorporates music and art. Before the models step on the runway, a group of dancers graced us with their electrifying moves which sets up the tone of the show. Contemporary beats coupled with a black and white palette, the opening dance number is a prelude to the modern yet classic pieces of DL1961’s Fall 2013 collection.
The snowy weather outside was a great juxtaposition to the warmth felt inside. Just looking at the rich earthy hues and soft leather bottoms from the collection evoked crisp autumn nights.
Our beautiful winner, Nesh, is from a small town in Arizona. She lovingly described Page as a close knit community where everybody knows each other. The youngest of three, she is currently studying bio-medical engineering and dreams of becoming a designer one day. Moreover, she has an enormous heart. With the help of those in Page, Nesh and her friends organized trips to give aid to other Native Americans from the Navajo tribe from around the world. Her giving heart and positivity truly inspired us.
It was her first time in New York City and throughout the trip, we had the honor of sharing more first moments with her. She tasted shrimp and macarons for the first time (we hope you liked it! =) and witnessed the creative energy backstage as it transfered to the runway. After the show and during dinner, we talked more about fashion and global community service. We ended the night with a walk in Times Square and cameral apple ciders on hand before heading back to the Conrad hotel.
Dearest Nesh – thank you so much for joining us at Fashion Week! Please say hi to your family and the people in Page for us! We’re so touched by the closeness of your family and community. Hopefully we’ll cross paths again soon, but for now, stay warm and good luck on your test!
Dearest Sarah – it was such an honor meeting you and being at your show! Your kindness, talent, and hard work inspires us. Thank you for sharing your passion with the world.
Special thanks to the Conrad New York hotel – thank you for taking care of Nesh on the first night when we weren’t there. We greatly appreciate that you took extra measures to ensure that her stay was memorable!
As always, thank you so much for reading!
